On April 21, Google’s search algorithm is going to change the way it searches and ranks on mobile devices - read Google’s announcement here.
Google reports that in the USA, 94% of people with smartphones search for local information on their phones while 77% of mobile searches occur at home or at work, places where desktop computers are likely to be present.
Beginning on April 21, Google is going to start penalizing sites that are not mobile-friendly. That means that sites that are mobile-friendly will rank higher than sites that are not – even if you have been on the first page for a long time.
What does this mean for you? If your site is mobile friendly, then nothing. If not, you may want to think about making it mobile-friendly soon!
