With more than 800 million active users, Instagram is rapidly becoming one of the most popular social media platforms right behind Facebook and YouTube.
A new Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults finds that Facebook and YouTube dominate the social media landscape. At the same time, younger Americans (especially those ages 18 to 24) stand out for embracing a variety of platforms and using them frequently. Some 78% of 18- to 24-year-olds use Snapchat, 71% use Instagram and close to half (45%) are Twitter users.

Social media is like a networking event. I am not quite sure who actually said this but I heard it at the Social Tools Summit back in April. It is a compelling analogy and is a very effective way of educating people on the power of social media as well as what is required to tend social media during this ongoing 24/7 networking event.
